Mohammadhossein Firouznia

(Hossein)

I’m a Research Fellow at the Flatiron Institute’s Center for Computational Biology (CCB), New York. Within the Biophysical Modeling group, I’m mentored by Prof. Michael Shelley. My primary focus involves developing theoretical and computational tools to understand fluid dynamic phenomena in active and biological systems.

Prior to joining Flatiron, I completed my Ph.D. at UC San Diego, exploring interfacially driven flows in multiphase systems under the mentorship of Prof. David Saintillan. My academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tehran Polytechnic, Iran, followed by an M.Sc. from Ohio University, where I worked with Prof. Sarah Hormozi.

When I’m not working, you can find me playing soccer, hiking or enjoying board games. My favorite music genres are Persian classic, Alternative Rock and Fusion.
